The Mackay City Centre, one of the region's most popular shopping and dining precincts, has recently embarked on an $18million revitalisation project. Redhotblue was engaged by Mackay Regional Council for the marketing of the City centre during the revitalisation project.  Twilight City Imagine More, an event conceptualised by redhotblue [ redevents ]  was the official launch of these capital works with the goal to promote community involvement, provoke positivity and excitement to the people of the region and provide support to the existing business in the City Centre.

The main street of the city precinct was transformed into a twilight festival, featuring local and national musicians, markets, dance groups, character mascots and street performers. The event also featured an open air cinema, arts and crafts activities, games, balloons and a silent disco for the teens. Local restaurants participated with extended dining opportunities for their patrons with alfresco style under the stars.

Attendees with a taste for culinary delights were not disappointed either! Special guest chef Sarah Todd from Mastrechef visited restaurants and caf├ęs in the precinct, creating a feeling of excitement and food buzz.

A vibrant, memorable event theme was developed to ensure consistency through out all materials. This was created to compliment the new branding created for the Mackay City Centre.  Redevents played a vital part in the preparation and management of this successful event. Some of these tasks included: management and liaisons of suppliers, co ordination of all entertainment and personalities, media management, design and production of event advertising and materials, signage and decor. Redevents also managed, setup and styled the entire event with the assistance of detailed run-sheets and site maps.

To interact with the community and promote the event, a strategic social media campaign was also developed. This ensured up to date information was available for the public. Fun, light hearted posts and an event hashtags developed excitement and energy leading up to the event.

Redevents and Mackay Regional Council expected at least 5000 people to attend the event. Due to the creative approach and the strategic marketing of the event by the team at redevents they were pleased to welcome over 10,000!  The mayor and CEO of Mackay Regional Council have deemed it such a success and have declared it should become an annual event.
